The Coffers are Open: EHR Funding Op for NC Behavioral Health Agencies – Is Your State Next?

EHR funding

A treasure chest has been found in the behavioral health landscape of North Carolina – Is your state next?

As healthcare agencies and healthcare authorities across the nation are recognizing the value of transitioning to an electronic healthcare record system, funding agencies are waving their pom-poms in encouragement and opening their coffers to continue the transitions.  These wise authorities have taken note as agency upon agency successfully makes the switch from paper-trail to paper-less.  They have observed the contagion of relief and joy sweeping the industry – and have found the cloud-based EHR outbreak in the healthcare sector to be one contagion worth propagating.

Leading the way is North Carolina:  The NC DHHS, Office of Rural Health (ORH) and Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) partnered with the NC Health Information Exchange Authority (NC HIEA) to launch a program to assist behavioral health practices with purchasing an electronic health record (EHR) and establishing connectivity to the state-designated health information exchange, NC HealthConnex.

Practitioners who receive Medicaid reimbursements and already have an EHR must connect by June 1, 2018.  If you do not already have an EHR, apply for the funding today!  Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis between May 1-31, 2018.  If you receive funds from the State, your deadline to connect is no later than June 1, 2019.  To learn more on how to connect, click here.

NCHIE highly recommends that the EHR vendor you select is ONC certified and already connected to NC HealthConnex. You can check the Certified Health Products List (CHPL) web site to find out if your vendor meets these requirements.

Go on a treasure hunt.  Lead the way for your region. Search the websites of key healthcare authorities in your state and see if you can uncover a golden key to unlock the benefits of a cloud-based EHR and find yourself rolling in the pure gold relief and joy discovered by treasure-seekers in NC. . .and beyond.
