Patagonia Health integrates Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC)

Patagonia Health, a Cary, NC-based EHR software vendor, in collaboration with Appalachian District Health Department, implements Uniform Data System (UDS) reports to comply with the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) reporting requirements for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).

Every year HRSA requires that FQHCs and FQHC look-alikes report on their performance on certain measures as defined by UDS. The task is a necessary, but often burdensome, requirement to maintain FQHC designation and federal grant funding through HRSA’s Health Center Program. Recently, Appalachian District Health Department qualified as a FQHC and completed their first UDS reporting this February.

“We are a local health department that provided primary care along with traditional public health clinical programs.  By applying for designation as a public entity FQHC, we realized we can serve our community  even better. We are so enthusiastic about the continued improvement and expansion of services that we can develop as an FQHC. ” said Beth Lovette, Director of the Appalachian District Health Department. “FQHC annual grant is a big boost to our health department and our community. As part of FQHC we have certain obligations to provide annual UDS reports. We reached out to our Electronic Health Record (EHR) partner and their reporting experts worked closely with us to allow us to comply with the UDS reporting requirement”

Patagonia Health’s reporting options allow already time-strained personnel to quickly and accurately report on their performance and get back to treating medically under-served communities. The built-in EHR reports also come with Patagonia Health’s reporting experts, who are well versed with UDS and can guide new and developing FQHCs through the arduous process. “Patagonia Health experts were very instrumental in developing our reports to meet the requirements and submit within the deadline we were working under” adds Lovette.

“Not only does Patagonia Health EHR include all the functionality a community health center or FQHC needs, we are delighted to hold our customer’s hands to submit UDS reports in time. Automating the process of generating UDS reports is a big time saver, “ says Ashok Mathur, Co-Founder and CEO, Patagonia Health.
