Patagonia Health to sponsor Triangle Startup Weekend: Health DataJam
CARY, N.C. (May 15, 2014) – Patagonia Health, a leading provider of cloud and apps-based healthcare software, announced today it will be sponsoring the Triangle Startup Weekend: Health DataJam, held May 16-18. The event brings together passionate health professionals, students, entrepreneurs, developers and designers on a mission to revolutionize the health sector through relevant open data.
“As a startup, we are very supportive of the entrepreneurial community in the Triangle area,” said Ashok Mathur, co-founder and CEO of Patagonia Health. “This particular event is one we are especially excited about because of its emphasis on using health data to drive innovation, which is something we are always striving to do.”
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs from more than 110 countries around the world. During this particular Startup Weekend, attendees will pitch ideas, collaborate with others and produce startups that solve important health problems using open data. The weekend also serves as a lead-in to the second annual NC DataPalooza, hosted by HQ Raleigh and Forward Impact. The 54-hour sprint officially kicks off the team business competition, which lasts from May to August.
Last year, HQ Raleigh (formerly HUB Raleigh) and Forward Impact brought the nation’s first-ever regional DataPalooza event to the Triangle, with the goal of transforming the area into a center for open data, collaboration and entrepreneurial innovation. The open data is used to develop applications and solutions that catalyze positive community and economic impact.
